Walkthrough review of the application.
First lets take a look at the Card reader application,even with the default settings it does come up with satisfactorily good Optical character reading capabilities,most of the time you’ll get accurate text output. The only problem you’ll face is when there are logos and other symbols in the card it might tend to read them mistakenly for text. So for this and false output results of the Text Reader that I mentioned in my last post, the solution is there in the settings menu, all you have to do is set the Layout Adjusting option on.

What does this do?, you won’t notice the huge difference it makes until you capture a snapshot of a text field or a Business card. But when you start using the application with Layout Adjusting on,as soon after you scan something, you’ll be prompted into a snapshot of the text field and on top of it a dotted box marquee with three circles (Vertices),two at the edges opposite to each other and the other one in the middle, by dragging the ones at the edges you can scale and with the middle one you can move the box selecting the text area to be recognized,making it easier to the application to read only the required field. See how it recognize the text areas in Cards and allows us to edit the area accordingly,

History

Anyview is not a commercial product, but was was developed in my spare time over the past 2 years. It has slowly improved from the initial simple TXT reader of Release 0.2 to the current 3.1 version which can handle many different file formats. Originally written to only work on E680/A780 phones, it now works on hundreds of models. Many friends have given me encouragement and advice with this development effort with the result that I believe that Anyview is now the best ebook reader available for Java enabled phones.

Installing Anyview

Anyview should be installed on your phone just like any other jar file. That is normally done by:

Download the rar file containing the latest version of Anyview and uncompress (unrar) it
Copy the fairy.jar file to the memory card in your phone
Click on the fairy.jar file to install the application. The application MUST BE installed on your memory card not the phone - otherwise it will not work correctly.

Before you can use it you must change the permissions of the app to allow it to read and write files from the phone’s file system.

* Press arrow left or key [4] and arrow right or key [6] to switch between local and Bluetooth files.

* Press left menu or key [7] to open/close main menu.

* Press right menu or key [9] to execute on-screen fast command.

* Press key [#] or key

to select/unselect current item.

* Press key [0] to enter into/exit from clean mode: a fullscreen view without top and bottom bars.

When a menu item contains a key name, surrounded by square brackets, you can press that shortcut key to execute associated command, when main menu is closed.
